Aug 6, 2009 - my package manager of choice is aptitude... and it automatically removes unused packages.

Aug 6, 2009 - removing orphaned packages frees up disk space... and you have fewer updates... so you save on bandwidth and disk space... which nowadays are pretty cheap in many places.
