George Clooney is one of Hollywood's biggest A-list actors with a long list of films to his credit, so what was the best advice he got on his road to stardom?
GEORGE CLOONEY: "Never mix grain and grape. [audience laughs] Trust me, this is important to know."
Funny man George sat down for the New York Times's series "TimesTalks" yesterday, where he happily answered audience questions about his film The Descendants along with the movie's director Alexander Payne. But in all seriousness, what is the real wisdom that George received . . .
GEORGE CLOONEY: "If there's something you want to do, then get on with it, give it a shot. Failing isn't the issue, it's not trying that I find is always the issue. So that's good advice I think."
George has been making the rounds to promote The Descendants ahead of this month's Oscars. Earlier this week, he attended a special Academy luncheon with his fellow nominees, but he's also been popping up everywhere this award season from the LA Times Magazine to the cover of Entertainment Weekly to on last night's Person to Person segment for CBS News where he took viewers inside his home.
GEORGE CLOONEY: "Hi guys, come in, welcome."
We'll have to wait to see if George takes home an Oscar on February 26, but judging from yesterday's panel, he already has at least one fan pulling for him.
REPORTER: I really think this is the best work you've ever done.
GEORGE: Thanks. I knew he was going to say that, that's why I let him have the last question. Thank you very much, that's very nice. Thanks, Cousin Joe!

Feb 9, 2012 - I like George's advice....however, finances seem to always be an issue and "free" opportunities don't seem to run into me......I prefer safety even though I might experience depression with it. I just can't conceive how things could be different at least by myself. I would need help (a big push) to get over to the other side of not being scared.
